Blood Work

A simple method used to diagnose your pet's underlying issues.

At Hôpital vétérinaire LaSalle, we have a large laboratory that allows us to perform blood work and other tests directly on site, for fast results.

What are blood tests used for?

Blood tests are an invaluable tool for veterinarians, providing them with a wealth of information about your pet’s health. They are essential for diagnosing and monitoring several common diseases in cats and dogs. A basic blood workup is also part of a complete examination for senior or young animals when baseline values are needed. Finally, blood tests are also a standard part of any preanesthetic assessment, as they allow our veterinarians to evaluate the risks of anesthesia for your pet.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

Since we’re able to do most blood tests right in our lab, we can usually get the results in less than an hour. For more extensive tests that require sending the sample to a pathologist at a specialized external lab, it can take about a week to get the results.
